Fire Pink is the latest EP from electronic musician Mr. Projectile (Matt Arnold). Matt was really captivated by the images coming from NASA’s Parker Solar Probe, which has taken the closest ever images to the Sun, captured just 3.8 million miles from the solar surface. The image reveals the corona and solar wind, with a constant stream of electrically charged particles from the Sun that rage across the solar system.
challenge.
The main challenge lay in capturing the colors of an older flyer and applying them to the NASA image, which is low-resolution and taken from a video, so it contains many artifacts. The burning, yet smooth and soft image now takes on an ever more otherworldly feel, mirroring the beats and moods of the EP. There is a glitchy streak of noise and interference at the top, which both complements the music and the nature of the image source itself.
